About Edward

I understand that reaching out to a psychologist can be an overwhelming experience, often accompanied by anxiety and uncertainty. I aim to create a compassionate, safe, and supportive space where clients feel truly heard and understood. The quality of the client and psychologist alliance is a reliable predictor of positive clinical outcomes. So, it is important to get to know me to see if I am the right fit for you.

I am a clinical psychologist with experience across both private and public health services. For the past five years, I have worked at Monash Health, contributing to a range of inpatient and outpatient services. In addition to providing treatment, I have mentored provisional psychologists during their training phase. My work has primarily focused on supporting individuals with chronic and severe mental illness through both group and individual therapeutic approaches.

My treatment approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy. I aim to identify and challenge dysfunctional thoughts, behaviours, and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and explore early maladaptive schemas, which are entrenched emotional and cognitive patterns often rooted in childhood experiences. My therapeutic techniques include cognitive restructuring, behavioural activation, exposure therapy, and experiential and behavioural techniques including imagery re-scripting, chair work, and schema mode work. These therapeutic methods help modify unhelpful thinking patterns and promote healthier coping mechanisms.

I am committed to exploring concerns and tailoring therapeutic interventions to align with unique goals and aspirations. By creating a trusting and adaptable environment, I aim to empower clients to make meaningful progress toward achieving their desired outcomes and enhancing their overall well-being.
